2015!

Some may notice I have been a bit slow in updating the diary, truth is there has been so much going on and so little time to sit and recount it all, but here we start a new year and with it i set an intention to try and keep this up to date!

So 2015 is here, it seems hard to believe that it is now 40 years since I took my first solo public Church service and demonstration in London at the London Spiritual Mission, I covered much of what happened the following thirty years in my book We Are Eternal, What the Spirit’s tell me about Life after Death, published in 2003. So I am now delighted to report that the years from 2003 – 2014 are included in the republication of We Are Eternal, coming out this year with additional chapters, these will cover not only those years but all the things we learnt, taught shared and witnessed, especially much of what occurred when for over ten years many people from all walks of life, Homemaker, doctors, engineers, farmers, lawyers; In fact I am hard put to think of a group of people who were not represented at some point on one of our special weeks: Robert Brown & Friends. For many years held in Freeport Bahamas, though we did venture to Eastbourne once, and a very rainy France, we also took in Virginia Beach, in fact the very place where the retreat will be held this year (if you have not booked, hurry up, do so, all welcome!) People arrived at these weeks seeking many things but all with a common goal, no matter where they came from or what they left behind, they were all seeking to find out more about Healing and mediumship and how they could improve their lives and the lives of those around them.

I am convinced one day a film will be made, I can see it now all these people watching the clock on a friday afternoon, waiting to get out of their everyday life, to head of for a week of discovery, just some of the actual accounts of getting there (sometimes with their luggage!) would make a comedy no one could write easily, the emotional highs, the shared sadness, the ultimate realisation that there is so much more to this life then most understand, would make one incredible film, and how such weeks impacted many lives over all these years we have run the weeks, why I am surprised no one has not already made such a film, I wonder if Shirley Maclaine is free????

It was always my goal to bring together the best mediums we could, along with experienced healers and speakers, so that those attending, be they Spirit workers or just those who sought a better understanding of the Metaphysical world, could come together and share their thoughts and experiences, we had some incredible weeks, with bereavement groups being founded and encouraged, with training and better understanding for many, circles of development and friendships being made, why we even met a MARINE who went on to become a fully working medium ~~ that story is in the new edition of the book!

Over the years the retreats grew more into Boot Camps for Mediums exclusively, and that was not my vision, so it was with the change of venue that we returned to our weeks being retreats for all.
This year we have a fantatsic lineup of workers teaching, Mediums and Healers, we also have some great speakers, i am honored that the CEO of the Edgar Cayce Foundation Keven Todechi will be speaking to us about the life of Edgar Cayce, we will also have to opportunity to visit the center on our free day. This year we also welcome Austyn Wells who joins us to teach one of our morning classes, A.J Barrera the gifted and hugely popular medium from CA, will once again join us, as will Ellie Fristensky and Ann Burbedge who journies from UK. We also have some surprises as usual!

If you have not already signed up do consider doing so, you will find a booking form on the website, it really is a great week.

So this year one book is updated and reprinted, also there is a new book coming out, do watch for that, we have some great offers for sittings being offered in February, see the website calendar.

Many years ago as a member of the International Spiritualist Federation,(ISF) I was voted by the membership to be a member of the executive committee, in time I was also its publicity officer and was honored to be asked to be the very first person ever to be invited to be a World Ambassador for the ISF. Many will know I had happy years at the ISF, but the time came to part company in 2001. Much growth was needed and that is not always done standing still and so our paths went seperate ways. It is my great delight that the recently I have been contacted by the ISF and have been invited to teach advanced mediumship at their annual event in Germany in August, this is a wonderful healing gesture for all and one I am honored to be invited to take part in.

Look to May for our annual retreat you will find it on the calendar.

In November 2015 it has just been agreed that I will join Lisa Williams and Karen Noe for a fantastice weekend at A.R.E in Virginia Beach, do check their website.

The Office in NY does their best to accommodate all requests for Private appointments. In February for a short period and only a limited number, they are booking on a “first come, first served” basis private telephone appointments at a 50 % reduction, this is part of our year of celebration. Only for these appointments and only booked through the NY office.

Still Learning ~ Still Teaching :

Two of the questions I am asked often on my trips around the World is “Do you continue to learn about Spirit as you work” and “Why after all these years do you continue to offer workshops and classes?

I think to answer fully I have to think back to when I first started working as a Medium, as just a teenager I had given my first public demonstration of Spirit communication and by the time I was twenty I had become the youngest person ever to be engaged to teach development classes at London’s Spiritualist Association of Great Britain (SAGB). Like all teenagers, at 17 I knew everything, it is only by reviewing the ensuing forty years that I have to laugh at myself and my naivety, for although I knew a bit, I found out a lot more, and believe there is still much more to discover.

The teachers and encouragers I was fortunate to have take me under their wings, reads like a veritable “Who’s, who” of Spiritualism : Mrs Ivy Northage, Mrs Gaye Muir who are recognised as two of the best teaching Mediums England has ever produced, were my principle teachers, while great Mediums, such as Leslie Flint, Gordon Higginson, Albert Best, Doris Stokes, Bertha Harris, Coral Polge, Stewart Lawson, Joe Benjamin and Kathleen St George were incredibly generous in their support, guidance and encouragement to this pesky, questioning newcomer, I never appreciated at the time how fortunate I was to have such experienced, wise and knowledgeable people take an interest in me.

Many of you reading this, may well recall the Medium Peter Close, until fairly recently Peter was a frequent visitor to California, in fact it is fair to say that Peter truly blazed a trail in bringing Spirit communication to large audiences throughout California and indeed the entire U.S.A. A trail that has enabled many who came after, an easier passage due to his diligent ways of teaching and explaining. Peter and I have been friends for forty years, I know he would like me to send his best wishes to all who know him, now 86 and retired, I cannot thank him enough for his kind support of me and my work.

It is because of all these wonderful people that I feel a desire to find out all I can about the world of Mediums and to share all that I have discovered with those who are seeking to know. It is true, today we have more of an acceptance of Metaphysical practices and laws but how many of us know how they function and why?

Much is made, these days of Mediums in the media, rarely do any offer the opportunity to see how and why they work, I feel it is important not just for those who wish to develop their own gifts further, but for EVERYONE who even considers visiting a Medium, to furnish themselves with as much knowledge and understanding as they can before witnessing a Medium work.

With this in mind, I have put together five, very different classes, each is aimed at specific Mediumistic disciplines, each one day workshop will look, in depth at each subject to be dealt with, the workshops are developed to give not just Mediums but anyone, who is interested in the true workings of Mediumship, a better understanding of what is and what is not possible with Spirit communication.

I have called these workshops, Master Classes, for they are each a culmination of all that has been shared with me by some of the Mediums already mentioned and the many more unknown “greats” who simply went about their healing work quietly, to me each and everyone of them, were Masters of Humanity. Hence Master Classes!

Hopefully you will find something of interest in one or more of the events planned for September at Awakenings, maybe you will come along and teach me something, I will be happy to share what I have found with you.

Why do I still teach? Because I have more to learn ~

Well here we are already half way through the year! It was a curious experience to recently be in Zurich, Switzerland, to stand by the lake in blazing sunshine and look towards the distant snow capped mountains. I wonder if anyone was on the mountains looking towards sunny Zurich? I guess many of us spend time looking to the distance or elsewhere rather than deal with whatever it is we need to. One of the many things I learnt from my Spiritualist committee days is, when you have a challenge, problem or issue that confronts you, it is better to deal with it right there and then and not try to avoid or ignore it. Many is the person who has tried to avoid dealing with a difficult situation, in my experience all one does is to put off whatever it is we are supposed to be experiencing, and who knows, by putting something off this time, perhaps down the road the lesson will be more difficult. The other man’s grass is not always greener, appreciate and embrace wherever you are on your journey, the harsh or difficult lesson we learn today, may one day be the beautiful sunshine, you are able to shine in someone elses life down the road, by letting them know they are not the first to deal with a situation.

These coming months hold some wonderful new adventures for me, as well as returning to Munich Germany in July, I will also be going to new pastures during September and October. We have new MASTER CLASSES at Awakenings in September, 5 stand alone one day classes! Chicago, St. Louis, Virginia Beach, Baltimore, as well as Manhattan NY as well as CA are all covered in these busy coming months, do check out the calendar and make sure you are signed up for the newsletter to keep you advised of all new venues and news being added.

New Master Classes were agreed with Awakenings in California and these will be held in September. New venues and cities are to be included in the fall please check the calendar. Next month we head to Switzerland.
We are looking forward to a new hotel for our next Bahamas retreat, it will be 5*!

March

Monday, March 17th, 2014

Only the third month of the new year and already I am late in putting this up! Unfortunately not only have I been running around but I have been hit by the flu that this time has taken some shaking, but now I am back on the mend and looking forward to some of the trips ahead.
March will be quite an unusual month, one of transition for many things, letting go and starting anew, this month will set the to tone and focus of this year.

In a matter of a week or so i will be in Virginia Beach, looking forward to hooking up with Cinnamon and her group, also seeing a number of old friends, and not least of all discussing forthcoming books with the A.R.E
Then it will be on to Bahamas, our week long retreat that has been going on now for over ten years, during which time literally 100s of people have enjoyed and shared our various weeks, I have been so fortunate to have such great friends join us over the years, Peter Close, Ann Burbedge, John Edward, John & Tina Olford, Matthias & Eva Guildenstein, so many, in fact, I could fill this blog with just names of those who have traveled from around the World to join us and share their experiences, thank you everyone who made these weeks so special, to think we sometimes had 3 events a year, with anything from 30 to 100 people attend each week, this of course took a lot of organising, and many people pitched in to make the weeks happen, I have to say a big thank you to Pam Pasieka, who for twelve years organised our events so splendidly, to Sue Dooley who jumped in and helped Pam, To Jill, Andrea to Pat who carried on the great work. The week maybe called Robert Brown’s”” but in fact there are so many who took part in creating these weeks, a special thank you has to go to our dear friend Toni for introducing me to the Bahamas!
As some of you already know I am changing the events from next year and although this years event is called Öne last time” it absolutely will not be our last residential week, watch this space!

We end our Bahamas week with a special 3 day Trance event.

Next stop will be California, I am so looking forward to seeing some of my old friends and also to return to Solvang, & Montecito. Utah is also on this visit list!, this trip will take me into to April, before then I will update you on my journey.
After the long extended bouts of rain we have had in Europe this winter, it will be a delights to bask in some sunshine.

February- First thoughts

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

Here in the UK for the past couple of months, we have seen rain fall of almost biblical proportions, where I am in the south west of the country many homes have flooded and it has been a thoroughly miserable start for many to a new year. As bad as this may seem, one cannot but help think, compared to such disasters, what it must be like to be living in war torn countries where one does not know if one will even have a home from one day to the next, and then one thinks of those fighting life threatening illnesses and then it is not difficult to count our blessings instead of cursing our lot, no matter how difficult our own path, if we look around , we can always take inspiration from those who are walking an even more perilous track and still surviving, then perhaps the one we are on.

Despite the awful weather, the economic gloom, the, what appears to be total apathy on the part of governments to realise that people need the incentives and encouragement to get ahead, I take great comfort from mother nature. I look down and around the garden at the beginning of February and everywhere I see the buds of daffodils and other spring plants starting to show their determination, I cannot help thinking, with everything that has been thrown at them, the wind, rain, flooding, the cold, and the real possibility of still frost and snow to come, these simple life forms, struggle through, it is almost as if they know it is their duty and purpose to do what they can to get to the surface and put on their best display, they are determined to shine, regardless of what obstacles beset them.

Perhaps if we take a moment, and each reflect on what our own purpose is, not just the bigger picture, but our purpose, right here and right now, today. Maybe we would each find the strength to go on.

I have told many friends how some years ago, I woke up one morning and my first thought was “Gosh, I am still here , there must be a reason for that”? I now spend each and every day searching for the purpose each day brings, it is funny how broken down into short periods, we can often find the purpose or reason for an individual day, yet find it incomprehensible to fathom the purpose of our entire journey. Perhaps we should be more like the daffodil, get on with what we can do best and see what further opportunities this brings. Do our best to shin in whatever we are dealing with, and see where that leads us? After all does anyone notice the daffodil that does not even try to germinate? how many bulbs are there that we never see? Yet even a bud that manages to poke through the earth, someone will say of it “”At least you tried””.

February also reminds me of the Desiderata:

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Leo Bonomo will be interviewing me on Tuesday 28th Jan at 2pm UK time.

I am in no doubt it will be interesting as Leo and I go back many years, and although we have not been in contact or seen in each other in a long while, I am sure he will have some memories to recall, of sitting in one of the development classes i gave 30 odd years ago at London’s SAGB!
Looking forward to it, you can listen in at:

Unusually for me, I find myself this January in Europe, it is freezing and in both UK and France we have had localised flooding, fortunately in both countries the properties are on high ground, though I do have friends who have seen their houses covered with up to 4 feet of water, especially when parts of the Brest canal in Brittany, France burst its banks. Years ago I would have been livid at such events, now I think, ‘well if that is the worst that can happen…. There is always someone worse off than us. Unfortunately.

Still this is a time for me for getting a lot of things sorted out, the newsletter will soon be out, if you do not receive it do sign up on the website front page, it only comes out twice a year and keeps everyone up to date with what we are doing and where I will be visiting.
I am looking forward to the warmer climes of India in the not too distant time!
In April we have our Bahamas retreat, following the revamp and complete change at Wyndhams Freeport, Bahamas, we currently have a limited amount of rooms and I am urging everyone who intend coming to get their booking forms in now to avoid disappointment. The title of this week is ONE LAST TIME
Some have asked for a 3 day trance group workshop, this is optional and is being added to the end of the week.

I will be in Salt Lake City this year, it has been some years since I was there and friends there have been very patient in waiting for me to be able to include this delightful place again, Manhattan Beach, Solvang, Montecito will be stops in California. Miami and Virginia Beach are some of the early stops this year.
Please look out for our announcement for our week in the UK! It will be in August or September, we are just confirming dates, the venue we have, an amazing 16th century former school! To allow everyone to work with their own budgets we are going to just charge for the classes and tuition, you will be able to book your own flight/transport for the best deal for you, also we will be sending details of local hotels, B & B accommodation that will be really close to the venue, this way you can book the kind of accommodation that suits you and your budget, it will give greater flexibility for everyone, but with a Ghost walk and a trip to Stonehenge in the offering, this will be one great week! Check the site for details shortly.

It is intended to up date the diary by the end of each month, having reflected on what we should be focusing on for the following month to best work with this years vibrations:
Check back often to see updates:

2014 A year for Optimism! Most will agree, though there are always exceptions, that 2011,12,13 were years of transition, often unsettled and for some not the best of times. as we shut the door on 2013 much of that can change. Many needed to use 2013 to evaluate and reflect on where they really wanted to be and what it is they truly needed. Whether you actually did this or not, there is still time to focus and set your sights and goals for 2014 to become the year for you.
As human beings we tend to hold on to many things, of course we can if we wish to, hold on to everything, but there is nothing like simple everyday lessons to show us the bigger picture. In the Bahamas in 2013 several people attending our retreat arrived minus their luggage which the airline had somehow mislaid. For anyone, going away for a week, is exciting and the loss of all your clothes and items is so annoying. This past year one friend lost her entire luggage, at first she was very annoyed, but as the days went on and no luggage, she was quietly amazed at how generous the other ladies were in sharing items of clothing and other needed items. Long story short, at the end of our week, Carol and I spoke and we both agreed that even on a weeks travel nearly all of us pack and carry far more than we need, Carol has been coming to the Bahamas since 2003 she told me, never again will she pack so much and rely so heavily on the many things she realises now she does not always need. I know from personal experiences of dragging suitcases around the World, how many times have I injured myself lugging huge suitcases, only to return home with things I did not need or use. So one of the first things many of us need to consider this month is What do we WANT, and what do we NEED? In life, in general are we carrying too much? be that physical, emotional or spiritual! Do we need to jettison some of unnecessary things? Once we can let go of such things that we don’t have to have, we find we make room for new experiences, but while ever we are full of fretting for what we think we are missing, there is no room for us to see and focus on the things we truly need. Such as good health, Spiritual awareness, positive thoughts and actions, loving relationships… 2014 has all these possibilites

Jan 1st 2013

Tuesday, January 1st, 2013

Hello Everyone!
Well for many 2012 was a taxing year to say the least and although some may be battered and bruised by all the lessons and trials of that year, let us all summon our courage and enter 2013 with optimism. If collectively we do that we can gain the best that this year has to offer.
If it is any concillation, after a terrible 2012 personally, my year ended with my central heating boiler breaking down 2 days before Christmas, the freezer being inadvertantly switched off the day before Christmas eve, then suddenly on Christmas day all the lights on the tree fused! I put it down to 2012 ending in a huff!
I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones during my trip to California at the end of this month, it will also be great to be at Awakenings in Laguna in Feb. March will see me back in New York. Please watch the website and watch for the news of Bahamas and our new retreats and week long seminars in France.
I am in Switzerland at least 5 times this year and for those who like to see a number of mediums under one roof, the fall of this year should be great, I will return to Basle for an extraordinary event, Scottish medium Gordon Smith should be there and also James Van Praagh will be making his first appearance live in Switzerland, so watch this space or check out Psi-zentrum for this mammoth event.
Best wishes to all for 2013, may you receive all you deserve and may others receive all you wish for yourselves.
Robert
